Who is responsible

What data is processed and why

Hosting and technical logs. The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). To deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse, Vercel’s servers automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, referrer and time of the request. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify visitors. The photographs and the fonts are served by the same host.

Anonymous statistics. We use Umami (Umami Cloud, EU region) to count visits and understand how the site is used: which pages are read, and which buttons are pressed — for example a click on a bookshop, or the answer chosen to a question in the “Find your hotel” game. Umami does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. It collects only aggregated information: pages visited, referring website, browser, operating system, device type and country, together with those interactions. Your IP address is used only to estimate your country and is not stored.

Your market. To list the bookshops of your country first, the website reads your browser’s time zone and works out from it where you are likely to buy. This happens in your browser; only the resulting market, such as “UK”, is recorded with the clicks described above.

Sharing your result. The Share button in the game opens your device’s own sharing menu, or copies the link to your clipboard. The link names the hotel you matched with and nothing about you. We count how many times a result is shared, not who shares it.

E-mail. If you write to us, we use your e-mail address and the content of your message only to reply, and we keep them only as long as needed for the conversation.

Legal basis

Hosting logs and anonymous statistics are based on our legitimate interest in running a secure website and understanding how it is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Replying to your e-mails is based on your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Transfers outside the EU

Some providers, such as Vercel, are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, this happens on the basis of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Links to other websites

This website links to Instagram, to the publisher FUEL, to the bookshops that sell the book and to the websites of the publications that have written about the project. These are plain links: nothing is loaded from those services until you click them. Once you leave Socialist Hotels, their own privacy policies apply — and the purchase itself takes place on their websites, so we receive no order and no payment data.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format, by writing to info@blendo.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

We may update this policy if the website changes. The date of the latest update is shown below.
